2008 E63 vs 2011 E63

I owned an 08 E63 up until it was wrecked a few months back. I drove a 2011 E63 yesterday. First thing I noticed is it does not seem as animal/raw as the 2008. When you floored the 2008 it was like satan grabbed the car and threw it down the road. The 2011 was much more tame.

Did they tame them down ya think?

Thoughts?

Maybe the transmission adaptives need to be reset?

2011 has 518 hp compared to 507 lol (I know it doesn't matter)

IIRC - the 2011 doesn't have airmatic in the front hence it gives more planted refined feeling compared to raw ?

Correct me if I'm wrong.

I figured it out. I drove it again today. I was in comfort mode. In Sport+ its a whole new ball game.

Are you serious? Does the Comfort/Sport setting change that much in the new car? That's amazing haha you could let your mom/wife drive it in Comfort if need be and then put it in Sport+ when you're feeling like a lunatic.

One thing I did notice when I drove a W211 E63 is that it definitely feels more hardcore than the E55, it's so much firmer and tighter. I prefer it actually.

Yah I was kind of embarrassed. My wife would not drive my last one. She won't drive this one either. Which is good because she likes to run into ****.

The awesome sounds it makes with no resonators is pretty sweet also. I didn't get to drive around too much with the E63, but remember that ALMOST ALL of the suspension components are the same between E55 and E63 (w211), with the exception of P30 package (who knows?). It was simple 'tighter' because it doesn't have 520 lb/ft of tq making that **** slide around in my opinion. More of a nice even power band, and it still gets up. The E55 of course is just a plain beast hands down.

As far as the W212s dunno, but I'm sure there's a few threads in the other section.

IMHO I would get the 2011, over the 2009 just because its a complete refresh. I know you said in other threads you don't like the biturbo and it seems you really like the 'M156' engine. I just think it might be time for something new.

BTW what ever happened with your insurance claim (hard to forget about you with that *** staring at me).

They gave me pretty much what I wanted. It was a struggle but in the end it was worth it.

Nah it wasn't about sliding around, it still lost the back end at ~50mph but it felt tighter in that it felt firmer. The 55 is fast but feels a little loose, not loose as in not connected but it feels like a proper automatic car, like a proper torque converter car. The E63 still had a torque converter but the 7 spd feels really tight and upshifts really fast. The steering is also different unless you have an 06 E55 I think. Are you sure the suspension is the same in the E55 and E63? By the way the brakes in the E63 also feel better, no SBC in the E63. It's crazy how different they feel though being the same chassis and all. I'd imagine a coilover swap W211 would feel even better but I've never driven one on KWs but have heard it's night/day.
