New surge tanks in, and found a little surprise (pics)
How she looked before all the fun last night.

Airboxes removed so I can get to the surge tanks and the Intercooler exit in the rear.

OH HEY! It seems the previous owner had a boost reference drilled into one of the surge tanks and the vacuum cap had disintegrated.I was never told about that little mod, and it was something I would have never seen had I not needed to pull the surge tanks.

Luckily the new tanks were unmolested. Black was a much more fitting color. Hit them with primer and 2 coats of textured black. Put bearing grease on the logos before painting and just wiped the non-adhered paint off. Worked like a champ.

Ahhh, finally have more black than gray in the engine compartment. I'm happy.

Can't wait to really get on her this weekend to see if removing that leak helped anything. It's definitely quieter now. I can tell you that.

It just put my mind into "what else was done to this car before I got it?" mode. When I saw the disintegrated vacuum cap I actually realized it was a boost reference and since there were no other tap point in my tanks, it was probably just for a gauge.. at least that's what I'm telling myself. My baby has 86k miles on her with a 180 lower and full exhaust. I feel like she's approaching borrowed time so I'm hoping she was cared for previously.
