2006 E55 AMG,2007 Jeep SRT8

Replacement key question

I searched and could not find a specific yes or no answer

I ordered the newest key for my 2006 E55 with keyless-go, I got the key today and it is the one with the circle red panic button and not the triangle red panic button with the raised buttons. The whole reason I ordered the new key was to but the AMG back cover on the new key.

Parts guy says I cant get the newest generation key with my 06 E55.

Is that true?

I was able to get the newest style key on my '02 C32, theres no reason it wouldn't work on an 06 E55

Thanks, thats what I thought, but he said when he used my VIN this is the key the send. He has no control over it. So my next thought is get the part number for the newest generation key and order that.

Anyone know the part number for the newest generation key?

Had to return the circle panic smart key, MB said they will not send the newest geneteration for the w211 cars. Dont know if that b/s or fact so i just gave up. If anyone knows anything different please let me know.

I was told the same thing from my dealer. The new style key will for some reason not work with keyless go vehicles. If you have a non keyless vehicle, it will work, not sure why.

I tried the same for my keyless go e55 and no luck. Dealer said you can get the new triangle panic button key only for non keyless go w211.

Damn, I just paid over $300 for a new key for my SL yesterday because I assumed it was going to be the newer chrome key. It has keyless go, so you're telling me when it comes in, it's going to be the same old plastic Dodge key?

With the newest generation key you can remove the back cover and add the AMG back cover to it (thats why i wanted it) you can not put the AMG back cover on the first generation chrome key. Okay I didn't know there were two versions of the chrome key. My E55 has the one with the triangle panic button but it doesn't have keyless-go so that makes sense now. Thanks for the pics!

Now I'm confused. In your previous post you stated "It has keyless go, so you're telling me when it comes in, it's going to be the same old plastic Dodge key?"

So, which is it?
