First time at the dragstrip
My best run was:
60': 2.10
ET: 13.099
MPH: 108.6
I ran with traction control off, kept it in drive and just mashed on the throttle, feathering it to minimize wheelspin.
The car seemed to shift at around 6500 RPM, but it felt like it let off the power before shifting, like maybe I was hitting a rev-limiter before shifting. Should I manually upshift before 6500? What's the best approach here.
The other thing that seemed strange was how it seemed to hit a wall at about 105 mph. It felt like the top speed was limited or something, because it just stopped gaining speed for the last couple seconds of the track. All other gears pulled hard all the way to the shift. It almost felt like it didn't feel like shifting into 5th gear and just stayed in 4th at around 6k RPM.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks!
I'd keep traction control on, I'm sure many will chime in here...
what location are you racing? altitude and temps make a difference

welcome!

First time out I saw 13.1@109 with ~73 degree weather and 90% humidity
Second time out was my PB's
My PB 100% stock w/Bosch 010 pump was---
12.9@113.5, +1450 DA with a 2.1 60'
Temps were 67, 95% humidity(Got to love Texas weather and humidity...)
Dipping in to the 12's with such a terrible 60' foot and average to below average weather I was happy! I was surprised at what a 10 degree difference in weather can do and look forward to getting back out to the track one more time, hopefully in the 50's with low humidity, before I start any mods!
Good luck and have fun with it, don't be discouraged as there is definite room to grow with some more seat time and getting that 60' down!
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
I put in the new Bosch -10 I/C pump last weekend and got back to the track today. The results were decisive! I busted out a 12.400 on my first run @112.78MPH, with a 60' time of 1.864 (on street tires). Unfortunately that was by far my best run. The rest of the night was consistently in the 12.71 range with 60' times in the 2.1 range. I guess a set of slicks or drag radials is next on the shopping list!
