E55 value for a new guy

I am new to the forum and I have a real quick question about 2005 E55 AMG values, I previously had a C55 AMG which I replace with a 2013 C250. I miss my C55 too much and have decided to replace the C250 with a similar AMG. What would be the max price you guys would pay for a 2005 E55 with 1 owner, no accidents, pretty well loaded with options, and only 24,000 miles? Thanks for the advice, and I expect more than book values but just how much do you feel is reasonable?

There are so many variables , mods, condition of engine etc. just because a motor has low miles doesn't mean it's good. Do a compression test believe it or not some high mileage motors are in better condition than low miles

Sold - 05' E55
Glad to see your considering an E55 -
It seems you may have located one already? I agree with Joncl, their are a lot of variables.
Does the car have a maintenance history?
I would think a low mileage 05', E55 can go anywhere from $20k - $25K

Yeah, I am pretty well versed with the technical side of the M113 motor and the W211 E-class as I have experience maintaining both when I owned a C55 and keeping my wifes E550 in shape. I am just trying figure out what the value of an E55 from 2005 with low miles should be priced at, I have no problem paying a bit more for a good car but at the same time I dont want to get taken...

Kompressede, it does have the service history and seems to have been well cared for. The car I am looking at has had 1 owner since new, and looks outstanding, it only has 24k miles on it. No accidents and in very very very good condition. Like I was saying I know I will pay a bit more over book value and thats fine, but just how much? Whats the MAX price you would pay for a immaculate 2005 E55.

I don't think anyone who does not themselves plan to buy that specific car can answer this question for you. We all have different thresholds given the same set of circumstances or faced with the same car. What is the car worth to YOU? It's that simple.

You say you don't want to get taken but in my opinion, anyone paying any kind of premium for a 24,000 miles 9 year old car is getting taken. It's not a collectible, it will not appreciate in value and newer AMG's as well as other comparable cars continue to fall in value. It's a 9 year old car that NO ONE has taken the time to drive and figure out its specific mechanical sturdiness or quirks as the case may be.

If you have any kind of life emergency that requires you to dump the car suddenly, the market, or bank, or dealership will not look upon you with sympathy or understanding, they will look up the values via KBB, Nada Guides, Clearbook.truecar to name just a few and offer you less than trade in value. Period. So my advice would be to find all the values any dealership or financial institution will use to value the car, average them out and stay well within those parameters.

I have seen cars with low mileage go for 22k and then some with higher mileage and mods go for more, it all depends. Like was said it depends, remember just because its low mileage the struts can go at any time, while a higher mileage may have had them replaced with Arnott, this is just an example, so it's a difficult question to ask yourself. Personally I think a driven 55k is better than one that sits.

I wouldn't go much more than 2-2.5k over KBB for the same factor that KMS11 states. You never want to be upside down on a car, and if you are because of mileage then you don't want to be soooo upside down that you will never get close to breaking even on the car if you HAD to sell it.

After getting upside down on a few cars when I was younger and then having to sell them because of unforeseen circumstances I've learned that no matter how rare the car, it's never worth it to go the wrong way with the price of a car compared to KBB/NADA.

I realize one car/my car does not dictate the market value but hope this info helps. I picked up a 05 e55 one week ago. The car has 54k miles in good condition, new tires, zero mods, no wrecks or re-paints good ppi and from a car dealer. The price was around 22.5k

I found most dealers and people were asking above the purchasing guides prices (nada, bb, KBB etc)

others responses have offer some very sound advice..

This place is a joke.
Keep in mind, no matter how much we like these cars, the market as far as value, sees them as nothing more than an E320/350/500 with a bigger engine option. In fact, an E350 is an easier car to sell.

I got my 05 last year with 45k miles on it from a friend for $22.5k. New tires, brakes and rotors. Some past fuel sender unit issues but otherwise in great shape. It was a good value IMO.
