Replace Breather Valve/Hose as a PM?
Currently, my 63 is getting the intake manifold gasket replaced at the dealer. It's covered under my extended coverage.
Since the intake manifold is already removed (waiting on parts), I've inquired about replacing the breather valve/hose assy while they're at it (pay for the part and save on labor since the intake manifold is already removed).
Rather than waiting until the part fails and replacing it later what are your thoughts on just getting it done now (even though it's not bad)?

Are you referring to the crank ventilation valve on back of the manifold? How many miles does your 63 have? I work at a dealer and haven't seen too many go bad or fail, I want to say I've replaced maybe 2??, but I could be wrong.

Yes, that is the part. There have been a few members on MBWorld that have had to replace this part (there's a really good writeup on it) and it's a pain in the *** unless you remove the intake manifold.

It is not much money and if it makes you feel better, replace it. Or get an oil catch can while the car is in the shop and have then put it in while replacing the same valve. You intake manifold will thank you for that.
