Oil pump whine
Ok I know this was in another thread a long time ago but I will ask again. My 2005 E55 has the wonder full oil pump whine at cold start up and I have tried different oil grades and oil filters with only slight changes. I do know that removing the oil filter makes a big difference with the noise so the problem lies with the suction side of the pump. Any how who else has this and has anyone fixed this problem?

It is the transmission oil pump, not engine oil pump.
Use Mobil 1 0W40 and fleece filter in your engine.
I dont think there is a fix.

No, unfortunatly its in the engine oil pump. With trans removed its still there. Believe it or not some E55s have this problem ..youtube it...and are known to run forever with the noise.A shop in Germany has replaced many pumps fopr a fix. If you google it " Mercedes E55 AMG oil pump noise" It will pop up. They use a multiple gear setup in the pump, not the traditional one gear and hence the noise I guess.Just curious if anyone else out there with anymore info. My noise has been there for 10,000 miles now and I abuse it to no end. Again just wondering who has it or not.
