Pre-W211 E55 Purchase.
Hello everyone, I'm coming close to purchasing a W211 E55 AMG. I'd like to get a 2005+, but they seem to be out of my reach. I'll most likely have to settle for a 2003-2004 model. Before I pull the trigger on one, I'd like to know what to look out for. Like what parts are notorious for failure or which ones are prone to fail.
And yes, I used the search function. I'd just like to hear from real owners and their experiences on what to look out for seeing how this is my first MB purchase. Thanks!

Welcome but you need to search again this has been covered a million times by "real owners" with "their experiences." Just search and stop making extra threads.

There's a reason I posted the second half of my thread, but alright then. Lovin' this community already! Did you post that in 10-94's thread about pre-purchasing a E63? Because, you know, he's pretty much asking the same thing but I'm sure it's been covered a million times by "real owners" with "their experiences.".

65 Chevelle Wagon w/ C5 frame, 08 ML63, 04 S600, 04 E55,(sold) 00 ML55,(sold) 98 C43-55K Swap
I "personally" think 04 is the best year of the E55. (I own one ) 03 w211's had many issues. In 04 many of those were fixed. I like the "older" center console. It's more comfy on my boney elbow than the wood. 03-04's had a less intrusive traction control system. 05+ have issues even doing a burnout with out putting it in dyno mode. I can do 2nd gear rolling burnouts . Other than that 03-06 are not that different. Minor model refinements over the years. They all will have some issues so be prepared for that if $ is tight. Luckily if you can turn a wrench, parts are usually affordable. Given what the car cost new.
