Hi
To: tony2fingers, that is great news as I always encourage competition amongst sellers of any products.
However does your price also include unlimited 24/7 tech support similar to what is offered by existing sellers on how to use all the functions of Star via email and on the phone regardless of which timezone in the world the new purchaser lives in?
Regards,
OZZYAMG

I'm also looking for a decent quality C3 or C4 'knock-off' system.
Based on the many threads I've read, it sounds like the C3 is more stable for an occasional home user than the C4?
I've also read where the older software versions (pre 2012?) have more features available than the newer versions as the software is becoming more 'locked down' as time goes on- Any truth to those claims?
I have a Dell D630 and mainly need the mux, cables and HDD.
Any suggestions on where to get a better grade Chinese (or Euro) mux?
Thanks!
Elm

I've been looking at this one here, I may order one in a couple of weeks http://m.aliexpress.com/item/1988941378.html?productId=1988941378&productSubjec t=Package-for-mb-star-C3-multiplexer-RS485-Cable-OBD-16pin-cable-and-Xentry-2014-07-Version&tracelog=wwwdetail2mobilesitedetail
His feedback is 100% and it's noted that the electrics are from Japan and all the capacitors are quality with comparison pics of his to others, you may want to have a look and possibly ask questions if needed

Im a user of a Chineses Super MB Star C3 Set since 2011.
While the Hardware is still in good shape and working (all cables!), i have had multiple issues with the laptop (IBM T61) and its Software.
Had to reinstalle SDS a couple of times which is a very very very tedious and time consuming issue. Even though i have (this is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED) no connection to WLAN/Internet etc with my Laptop, sometimes it get Multiplexer Issues and Windows switches around in COM-Port Setting or changes Registry values for SDS Software or the "cal files" are mysteriously edited from alone.
Then there is Multiplexer Blacklisting, and certain newever versions cant use the old "C3" Multiplexer anymore and many important files are "hacked" so it still works.
Problem is that the Chinese C4 Multiplexer Versions with W-LAN/LAN are totally unreliable and the whole new "Xentry Diagnostics" (successor of SDS) touch computer will probably take a half- or up to a full decade until china can copy it.
Its annoying. Most of the times i can get my C3 to work with countless of hours of frorums reading and trying, fiddling aorund with files, services, and blacklist fixes etc.
But i also had the case once to send the Laptop with Hardware to a SDS specialist in germany which did a complete overhaul of certain services, files, etc etc.
The SDS Software itself is ALWAYS Beta even in legal retail form (25.000$ btw + service contracts and whatnot), and the specialists out there mix windows service versions with certain versions of DAS/Xentry and whatnot.
Its a highly complex system and it failed on me often when it was really important to get one of my cars going again.
Just for your informations.

So where can I buy a star diag? I have a few setting that have been screwed with by the past owner, I need to go in and fix his tinkering as well as peep around with the options or features. Would my EC tune OBD cable work or would i need a cable with the software?

I have been using autologic and the tech support is second to none. I like it. I have the star also. star works great for basic change and with a cracked version you dont have access to scn coding and other updates but autologic has the scn coding and other files for people who don't have the real star support.

gl350 diagnostic tool
Hi
I have heard some issues of Mercedes Benz not been happy with Star out in the market and people such as ourselves been able to own our own Star diagnostic system.
I am in Australia and purchased mine from a guy in Texas, if you are seriously keen on purchasing a full and complete working Star system with on-going support on how to use it feel free to send me a pm with your email and phone number and I will gladly pass it on for you.
He even looks after people near Antarctica (that's me!) and is a member on these forums so I am thinking he may reply to this thread.
Regards,
OZZYAMG

2005 MB C230K Sport Sedan & 2011 MB C300
I purchased mine from www.autoscanit.com
They are located in Ontario, Canada. I couldn't find many reviews on them when I was first searching for the STAR diagnostic software back in 2012-2103. They didn't advertise their business much.
After a year of keeping an eye on them, they hit the social media outlets and found me. At this time, I had saved up enough money to purchase the Mercedes C4 scanner. I purchased it when they had a sale going on during December 2014. The product almost NEVER goes on sale, so I knew this would be my only chance to get it for a good price.
So far, the tech support has been great and the product has been awesome! I've used it to diagnose and repair a thermostat problem on my Moms 2011 C300. I also had a friend come over with his 04 E500 with Airmatic suspension problems. He and I diagnosed some potential causes using the software. It's pretty powerful!
I also thought about going with the ebay, China made units, but then convinced myself that I need to pay top dollar for a QUALITY tool with ongoing tech support. Not something that could possibly break down and then have me spending more money and time just to get the tool back up and running.
If I ever get into the BMW or Audi market I plan to purchase my diagnostic software tools from Autoscanit.
