--Need some help-- Rear dome light ribbon rip--
Hey guys, noticed my rear dome was acting up and so i opened it and it had a slight rip on the ribbon. What are my options now. And the stupid connection is not even close by, the ribbon goes god knows were under the headliner which i thought was stupid...
if nothing i will try and strip the ribbon wires and solder them into the pins of the connector.

yah i just cut the connector off and the solder iron removes the top layer of plastic to were the connector is, and it exposes the strip so that is what i am going to be trying to do. I dont see why it shouldn't work, i might need some flux maybe for better solder connection

I did the job last month. Was trying to change the bulbs and ripped the cable off. I managed to replace it without pulling the headliner. It was a MAJOR PITA and took me 3-4 hours! Not fun at all but it is doable!

That ribon cable connects to the front overhead light assembly.
Here is I how I did it.
1. Buy interior trim removal kit.
2. Remove front light overhead assembly
3.Remove visors
4. Remove both door seals from the driver side (not the ones on the doors but the ones on the car)
5.Remove A and B pillars covers
6.There was a bolt behind the small airbag cover sign on top of the b pillar
7. Get everything else that will prevent you pulling the headliner down from the driver side
8. Once everything is out start pulling headliner down and and wedge those plastic trim removal tools between the headliner and the roof to help hold it down.
9. Start fishing the new ribon cable from the rear to the front. Here is where the fun part begins. It will take some time especially going around the moonroof but try and stay as clos to the outer side (left driver side , towards the doors) as possible.
10. Dont curse too much while doing all this! ;-)
