04 W211 E55 Supercharger Clutch Cost
I have a (new to me) 2004 E55 with around 70K miles that I just bought.
I've got a chirping supercharger (which I can live with), but it can have some rough engagement. Sometimes it seems to be VERY rough especially in comfort mode with a lot of throttle.
I realize I can control the engagement severity with throttle, but I think I just want to replace the clutch pack with a newer unit (06+) that solves the issue so I'm not causing whiplash with my passengers when I hit the throttle a little too hard.
After reading a lot of posts on the topic, I have just one important question:
Why has the cost of the supercharger clutch pack increased so much? The cheapest I can find it for right now is almost $1,300, but I've seen a lot of notes from previous years where people are noting they bought it for half that.
Am I missing something?
