pics and some thoughts

A few comments.

I really like the way the interior looks when it's lit up at night. That's why I took a few photos of that. It's much more stylish and pleasing to the eye than the W210 interior.

I love the drive dynamic seats. It makes me feel more involved with the driving.

The side window blinds are a neat little option.

Everyone loves the panorama roof. Especially with the solar option.

I'm still getting used to using the KEYLESS GO. Every time I leave the car I still try and grab for a key out of the ignition.

I've got about 300 miles now. Only 700 more to go.

Just a few pics of my E55.

I'll add more pics later.

Oh... and today I encountered my first RS6. Too bad my car wasn't broken in yet. I saw the guy glance at the side of my car when he was passing me. I'm not sure if he knew what I was driving since it was at night. But he did break through the traffic and floored it ahead. I wish I could have played, but gotta get past the break-in period first. I saw some rice rocket try and chase the RS6, but I don't think he knew what he was up against.

Thanks for all the nice comments. I'm really enjoying the car. I'm looking for chances to drive it all the time.

The rims on the car are the standard 18". I don't think I'll go to 19"s after reading about Rave E55's experience. I think the 18's look fine already.

I'm thinking about putting on the flat hood badge, but I'm considering putting on the AMG one. Gotta make it fit better though. It doesn't fit very nicely into the recessed area. I will have to do some modifying to the badge first.

I'm going to get the illuminated door sills installed soon. I'll post pics of that as soon as I get it done.

srt10viper:

yes I got the pedals from the stealer. There are two ways you can go. You can get the SLK accelerator and brake pad and then get the SL e-brake pad, or you can get the SL style for all three pads. If you go the complete SL route it is more expensive since the accelerator pad must be bought with the entire accelerator assembly. The SLK route is cheaper since you only need to buy the accelerator pad. I got lucky because a friend owns an SL and she didn't mind letting me trade the SLK pad for her SL pad. She's not too picky about these things. Here are the part numbers for the pedals:

170-300-00-04 (R170 SLK Accelerator Pedal)
170-290-01-82 (R170 SLK Brake Pedal Pad)
230-430-00-84 (R230 SL E-Brake Pad)

230-290-00-82 (R230 SL Brake Pedal Pad)

I don't know what the part number is for the SL accelerator pad.

Pbglas: heh heh... I'm not a professor, just a graduate of the school.

Wait is it just me or did Mercedes change the colors of the controls for 04? I could of sworn the colors in my 03 are more orange whiteish then the red shown in the pics above...If it is red, it reminds me alot of my old audi...I like it alot

Oh, very nice, T-bone. The color choice, then the merlot seats...very distinctive. I like the interior at night, too. In the passenger seat when you look at the center of the gauges they are lavendar, rather than gray. Anyone else check that out? Oh, I'm the same with Keyless Go, only I start to take my key out of my pocket as I near the car.

Nah... the color is still orange like the 03. It's just my camera is not good dealing with colors in the dark. I'll try and get better pictures with a better camera soon.

Looking at your pics,I'm starting to have some dangerous thoughts,I want Nav,Keyless and Merlot interior too.
My wife would kill me just for thinking of getting another car now.

But I wouldn't have to answer to a wife though...

Yup, I really like the charcoal/merlot interior. It's not as bold and bright as the berry red you can get in the SL. The merlot is a nice dark shade that blends well with the charcoal.

Thanks for that info, T-bone. I have no regrets about the colors and options we chose, but I am admiring yours and the other pics that have gone up lately. Plenty of posts now to help future buyers make good choices. And it's great to have such an attractive platform to start with and a wide array of aftermarket goodies to tack on.

Absent, then you better start working on her. I started with my wife with the E500. Oooh, that looks nice, she said. Eventually pics of the E55, reading her parts of reviews and head to head tests, visits to the Mercedes site, etc. When I got done with her she was practically begging me to buy this car. LOL

I'm lucky in that I married a Gemini exactly like me. Our practical side rarely gets in our way. The basic question always ends up being...how much enjoyment will we get out of this?

heh heh... I was hoping a good Zaino pro could help me out.

I have problems using the clay. I'm afraid I may scratch the paint with the clay. Hopefully I can find the time this weekend.

There is some hope on the horizon,my brother in law is buying an E500 (also silver) and since my wife doesn't like the idea of him driving similar looking car, maybe I can get away with another change. The caveat though is ,another E class would be forbidden.
So the question is what could I get?

Maybe a S600 or S55 I know your thoughs about MB after the engine failure incident. The Audi A8L is nice but performance wise cant compare to S55 or E55 The RS6 is a nice choice also good performance and nice looks I seen on at Gold Coast Bently on North Rush it was pretty nice there was a 2003 E55 right next to it they both looked impressive.

I dont know if you like Ferrari but the 612 Looks awsome but its not really a daily driver.
