Exclamation MOD Question

I've been in contact with (2) speed (tuner) shops while looking for a dyno tune and they advised me that the older model evosport shorty headers will not give much of a gain with or without a tune, and that I would have to go with long tubes before I do the throttle body upgrade. I was also told in order to do the TB upgrade That I need to upgrade the injectors (along with long tubes) so I will not blow out the #8 cylinder. He said that they wouldn't even dyno my car with the shorty headers with the larger throttle body because he has seen major damage done to the engine without the complete (injectors, long tubes, 80mmTB) upgrade. The frustrating part is I've been online researching all the upgrades and piecing the MODs together for months now to find this info out. The question is has anyone had major issues rolling with shorty headers, do shorties limit the mods you can do? Also I have a VRP crank pulley with the part# 318200175 not quite sure if this is a 175 (because of the last 3 numbers of the part number) or is it a 180?

Thanks in advance

long tubes will give the most power > 40RWHP
shortys will give 20-30
mid-length will give 30-40

I believe you have a 175 crank pulley - but I'm not an expert by any means

once you eclipse the 500RWHP mark the upgraded injectors are pretty much needed
a crank pulley (175) plus the throttle body and headers will put you around that mark

I have mid-length headers and S/C pulley with a tune and make 481RWHP

Ok cool....

So is it safe to upgrade the TB & injectors with shorty headers?

I think the problem with the shorty headers is that you don't get rid of the bottleneck at the top of the downpipe.

I can't find it, but someone did post a thread about replacing just that bottleneck at the top of the midpipe and how much it helped, even with the stock headers.

I don't understand why the shop does not want your business. If they see AFR go lean, they can richen it up. If that doesn't work, then put in bigger injectors. Besides, if they say the shorties have no effect, then what is the problem?

Oh, they want my business, They want me to trash my shorty evosports and buy their long tubes $2800 and then custom dyno tune for $1000...
Thats why my initial question was, basically does it sound right to need to change out the shortys to long tubes before upgrading TB and injectors?
I'm being told I will damage my engine if I upgrade the (82mm) TB without upgrading to long tubes while running a 180 pulley and cooling mod...
Hes saying they won't dyno it with a custom tune until I put long tubes, 82mm TB and injectors because they've seen damage occur numerous times when using the shorty headers with that setup, has anyone been told this as well or has any damage been done to their engine?

Well, I have those shorties sitting in a box. I was going to do SC pulley, and 80mm TB with them. Not quite the same, but I guess I'll keep an eye on this.

If you are going with a larger TB, then go 82mm. Does not sound like a lot bigger but there is a big difference between the two.
