E55 info needed....
I just signed up on the forum and what a great site this is. I am coming from the corvette forum. And selling my 00 Vette that dynos 440 crank. Also, selling a GS 400 Lexus. Ordered an E55 AMG that they tell me should be in April. The more post I read of the guys that have already taken delivery of the beast. The more excited I get. This is almost better that fore play. Almost.
My question is: Is there any way to track the build and progress of these cars that are ordered. I know with Vettes they will let you come and watch a portion of assembly of your car before you take delivery. Can the dealer check on a certain cars build progress? How helpful can I expect the dealer to be in giving me an accurate target date for delivery?
Also, anyone have any post of platium blue E55s? Any other info as to how wait with patience and composure

Nope, no way it can be done. Everything is just estimates (ie, January 1st decade). I ordered a BMW and you can look up where in the production you car is on the internet! With MB, just sit back and relax, its the best you can do.

I'm biased, of course, but I think you'll be extremely happy with your decision.
jmeyers is the only person on this board who has platimun blue, I believe. You'll be in a unique group.

A few pics of my new baby! It is a AWESOME color. I went by the dealer today to pick up a car cover and a cutomer who was ordering a E55 changed his color choice after seeing my car.

I have the platinum blue, and everyone says it's the best looking benz they've ever seen. The AMG E55 has a different tint to the windows (blue) that goes well with the color. Also, the two toned interior (blue) is a must with this color. I also got the panoramic roof, which adds to the look.

Yes, I got mine a week ago last Friday and it does look very, very nice. I also have the two-tone leather interior, which makes it a bit more sporty-looking; the blue lighting of the dash is an exquisite complement, too.

1999 E55 AMG
I just came from the Corvette Forum, and just sold my 99 C5. Damn fast car, but my E55 is still faster. I just love this car, and granted it is a 99, I hope to pick-up one of used 04's in the next year or so. The torque launch in the MB makes the Vette seem really wimpy. Its even better that it doesn't have to sit in a garage all winter.
