2005 E55 AMG dyno (whp)

New to the forums. My E55 has larger injectors/fuel lines/stainless headers/maybe gutted cats as far as I know. These numbers are promising, but I plan on seeing what else can be done on the horsepower output.

It's such a cheap part I don't know why people don't just do it as soon as they get the car....

I've had several friends buy 55s and 2 of them had bad pumps and it just sucked the life out the motor.

How to tell?

Since Ive just bought my E55, it seems to pull pretty well. I did some runs on the weekend in 34*c weather (93*f) and averaged 4.5 sec 0-62. Seemed plenty fast for me and the runs were done essentially back to back. How can I know without replacing the pump if it is dead or not? I dont have anything to compare it to.

His rwhp peaked at ~4600rpm, that's definitely not right. Plus the fact that you had low 400s rwhp with your mods, tells me you aren't making much power on the top end when you should be

How do you tell without use of a dyno? Besides the car obviously lacking power, can you tell if the pump is on its way out?

Don't worry about it. When it happens, you'll know. The car will respond very lethargically.

I ordered mine the night I brought home my car and installed it the day it came in the mail.
Previous owner daily drove the car and apparently never noticed the pump was failing cause he never ripped on the car (apparently ..well he was an old guy who knows lol). Whether he noticed it or not, I immediately did omw home thats for sure...changed pump, instant fix.
Heat exchanger next...as soon as I decide to upgrade sc pulley.

don't worry, you'll know. its not exactly subtle.

1st pull will feel like 450+ HP beast it should be
2nd will feel like a v6 mustang
3rd will feel like a prius

if you really want to confirm, order a bluetooth OBDII and you can monitor IATs in somewhat real time over a series of pulls

Good man It's extremely cheap and can choke the car so everyone should do what you did.
