22k for 85k mile 2006 E55?

What kind of deal would this be? Stock car, unmolested, and basic and advanced maintenance done.

Silver. "Everything" but the big sunroof and Distronic.

How much did you pay for your E55 you just got? How many miles?

Its a normal well optioned E55. At the same price as a Honda accord 4cyl, what large difference could it make?

What are people buying E55s for when they have more than 75k but less than 100k and are not rusted craptastic cars?

Many times for some reason prices are not divulged here.

I can see how its subjective. I have driven e55s that needed new everything and they had 60k miles. I have also driven 130k cars that are tighter than a 45k car.

I paid $17500 and it has everything except Distronic and side shades with 92k miles. I got mine from a dealer who never had an AMG before and realized that it was a little too cheap but he does a lot of wholesale. I have spoken with him a few times since and he 'thinks' he sold it too cheap...especially a white one! lol It was listed for 2 hours when I found it.

There is quite a few options but see if you can get the sticker for the list price. I saw one with a sticker of $85k and mine was $96k...just to give you an idea.

This is so true and I mean sooooooo true! It is quite obvious that mine seems well taken care of bc of the interior but that doesn't always tell the story, usually but not always. I checked my motor mounts and struts and they have all been changed. The underside doesn't have one leak, drip or anything sweating. My CTSV has 26k miles, a 3k mi warrantied complete crate engine, SC, the works (inside job...lol) and 'IT' has a little sweat underneath!!! lol

Anyway, don't get me wrong, I have to fix the drivers door handle's keyless entry, the dynamic seats work when they want and I have a squeaky belt every so often. So, it's not perfect.

I wouldn't take less than 21k for my 79k 06 with hardly any options. It was owned by a physician and looks like it has 20k miles on it.

S/C 2005 GTO / Might get a MB
For what it's worth, I'm looking at a nice, near 83k mile E55 AMG... 2004. Not loaded, but does have navi and upgraded stereo. Rides very nicely, quiet, very clean. Seems well maintained with a nicely kept interior. Two owners, no accidents. Probably going to pay $16,500. Private party. Silver.

I watched my 06 E55 black with everything but door shades, distronic, and parktronic roll through Manheim auction with 90k miles for $7800. Take that for what you will. Dealers have quite a large markup with these cars it seems lately.

I just paid $18k private party for an 05, silver, no side shades, dynamic seats, panoramic or nav, but everything else. $50k miles, full history, no accidents, 2 sets of AMG wheels with tires.

I had to replace a few interior parts, a stereo speaker is not working and tithe rear headliner is falling a bit..so I will invest a few hundred bucks more at least to get it perfect.

It must have been the biggest POS in the world! This is misleading to all AMG fans/buyers! I just bought mine and pretty much have Manheim memorized. 2004 cars with 110k-130k do $10k! Anyone can look at Manheim (who knows a dealer) and see that I am exactly right! 2006 cars with 50-70k are doing $15k-$17500. Was your car towed across the block on rotors?

Ouch. Nick's car was pretty clean. Not perfect but few cars are at this age and I'm not sure the condition of the title. And that's what it sold for on the auction, not what he got.

No way I'd take 22k for my very clean 2006 with 100k. But Ive had it for 5 years with lots of modding and it's worth more to me..darn I guess Ill have to keep it bc the market price for a clean 06 is low 20s. It does need a new friend though...

Thanks for all The input.

Great diverse responses.

For a buyer, and a seller really, this is an emotional decision. If we were perfectly rational, it would be a Toyota corolla on lease. Fixed payment, slow car, warranty, and... Oh the hell!

Id say the price is fair but you could do better if you are willing to wait and hunt for one. Especially if you are confident to get one with some minor issues.

Mine doesnt help much but I paid 15K for my 03 with 60K mile, and this was 3 years ago. I am glad I hunted down what was a good price at the time cause it left mod funds which are the best.

The prices I gave for manheim are rock bottom numbers...is there a 110k mi 2004 that sold for $13k...sure and there are a couple 2006 cars with 50k that did $20k+...I was giving you guys rock bottom wholesale numbers so that guys car had to be salvage title.

I won't take less than $xxx for my 8 to 12 year old car with maintenance cost of a $90k car and reliability quite a bit lower than average..... Good luck with that when it's time to sell.

Seems the ones who have actually bought these cars are paying considerably less than the ones who are estimating what their cars are worth.
All emotional arguments till the rubber meets the road on the sales lots

Well yeah. That's why we're not selling. What you'd take when you're not ready to sell and what you'd take when you are ready are two entirely different things. Knock on wood. This has been the most reliable car I've owned. Hope she doesn't prove me wrong but for the mileage and time I've had the car compared to all my other cars it has been a gem.

Okay. Now, as buyers, what if the car had been changed to Coilovers.

Properly maintained and oem everything else, Mercedes Benz parts, but the car has Coilovers?

What happens to the perceived value?

What if you saw receipts for everything replaced in the suspension meaning it's all new?

It would be worth more to me with coilovers. Mods don't exactly mean the car is worth more but I'd pay extra for two equal cars one with coilovers one with airmatic. Airmatic is prone to failure and $500-800 a corner in parts. Swapping to coilovers cost $1250-2500 in parts and you never have to worry about the airmatic leaving you stranded again. What brand of coilovers?

Ya I actually bought it without ever even seeing it cause of the price. It is technically a buy back car if you dig in the mercedes file but it was for them not being able to repair a bank 1 sensor 2 issue which my tune instantly took care of. I also bought the car with no intention of ever selling it so was not concerned about that on the carfax.
