To X-Pipe or H-Pipe ?
Anyone out there have the stock exhaust on an E55 with just this X-Pipe or H-Pipe setup.
I want to hear it or get your opinions.
Thanks

usually an X-pipe isn't add to a stock system unless you remove the sec cats and/or resonators to prevent drone...i am not sure if it would give any added benefits or change sound....i could be wrong but that is why most add the X-pipe.

You can approach it two ways:
1) Have a catless midpipe built but with the H design and NOT the X. The sound will be much deeper than an offroad x pipe. You would still need to delete the resonator on the catback.
2) You could delete all the cats on the factory mid pipe, and weld in a nice true H pipe. YOu would still need to delete the resonator on the catback.
Any ford or chevy guys on here can tell you that offroad H pipes are ALOT deeper in tone than a offroad x pipe. The H design will make more low end TQ, while the X design will yield more top end HP. X pipes are higher pitched and sound more exotic.

Would the same apply if you are looking to add long tubes with some type of cat so it doesn't stink so bad?

Anyone have experience of the sound difference in just removing the resonators? Of course we are always looking for a little more power but sound is also desirable. Any videos of E55's with just the resonators removed Vs the Stock?

i just did my res and secondary cat delete with magna flow x pipe on my cls.
Sounds stock when cruising and slightly louder at idle if at all, but when you get on it it comes alive.
No rasp, just sounds angry granted ive only driven it a few miles due to poor weather and iffy tires but so far A+ mod and only cost me $250 with the x pipe.

Delete the resonator. Once your muffler guy brings down your car from the lift, ask him to rev it for you as you stand behind the car. Then you'll think to yourself... "wait, didn't he remove the resonator?"
