HELP NEEDED: Slow Jerky Shifting and Power Loss with Burning Smell
Hello everybody, I need some help.
First of all, I have done some searching on here, but unfortunately I have not found anybody describing the same transmission issues or a loss of power coupled with a funny smell under the hood.
The Situation:
I have a 2004 E55 w/ ~87,500 miles on it.
Very recently, on an aggressive drive, I noticed that the transmission was taking an unusually long time to up shift. It was also rather jerky - almost in a stuttering sort of way.
Also, two short drives later I have a noticeable power loss under any more than cruising throttle which feels like something is bogging/dragging down the engine, and when I parked the car in the garage and popped the hood, I could smell something that got hot. I almost want to say it smelled a little like a burning rubber belt, but not quite.
At this point, I am concerned that driving it anywhere could result in further damage.
I would like to take a stab at fixing the issues myself, but I need some suggestions or guidance in diagnosing the problems.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Jerkey tranny feel can always be glycol contamination only real way to find out is to get it tested, I had the same issue hard up shifts would jerk between shifts mainly 1-2.. As for the power loss I had a similar issue my issue was fuel pumps couldn't hold the pressure so i bought new ones installed and boom back to full power hope this helps, also if you need fuel pumps if that comes down to be your issue I have some stock one's perfect working condition would let em go cheap $100 for both, good luck.

Thanks for the reply. Who tested your Transmission fluid? And how did glycol get in the transmission?
Also, I understand how zero fuel can equal zero power. However, how does that explain smell underneath the hood?

Thanks Shardul.
Do you agree that this is probably what is causing my transmission to act this way?
Any thoughts on what could've caused the sudden load on my engine and the burning/cooking smell underneath the hood?

to be honest the MY2004 are not prone to the radiator / transmission cooler failure
let the car cool down and drive it more to see if problem persists.
