Wheel Weights

I see quite a few wheel ads. With my planned switch to Coilovers, I'd like to think about how to reduce unsprung weight, and while the rubber is the heavy part we can't change much (though some tires are lighter) - the wheels we can effect change in.

So - lightest wheels in the 18-19 range? Porsche has oem things like "Hollow spokes" where you save precious pounds. I don't see the same for MB.

Looking, there is a myriad of aftermarket, but rarely do I see weights.

I was going to get a square set of Enkei RPF1s in 18x9 +35.

17lbs a wheel. E55 stock wheels are something like 30-32 lbs, and these being almost half would make it much more lively.

At first, I thought you were looking for lighter wheel weights and I was like....

Wheel weights, as in the weights used to balance the wheels.

I was planning to get those wheels and run 275/35-18 on all 4 corners.

Be careful. I've bent the spokes on two sets of RPFs with excessive torque and sticky tires. This was a few years ago, their quality may be up.

I run HRE R40 on my wagon, hubcentric and custom offsets, no issues after 3.5 years.
18x9 = 19.8 lbs
18x10 = 20 lbs

Hi

I would like to buy a set of wheels that look identical to the standard AMG wheel but at half the weight each.

That would interest me immensely.

Regards,

OZZYAMG

+1, with light weight rotors you could save over 10kg of unsprung mass a corner!

My research has shown that the best combination of strength and lightness are HRE forged monoblocks. Style and value aside they are the perfect option for our cars.
Remember our cars are pigs Wheels like the Rpf 01 were mainly designed for racing applications.
Reducing Unsprung weight is always a good thing, but it must be done with an understanding of the stress that a wheel takes on a 4300 pound car.
And don't let someone talk into a flow form "forged" wheel. They are lighter and somewhat stronger than cast, but still too brittle for an E55.

Good luck!
