my continued e55 drama
Needs a new crankshaft, but what they dont let me know is they had the engine exchanged out with a rebuilt one.
I've had the car a total of 5 days. 55+ days they had the car. They exchange the engine in my car for a rebuilt one, get a new crankshaft and put it all together and give it back to me - explaining to me that they had new pulleys, new o rings and new gaskets put on, new crankshaft, new crank pulley, new screw. In front of them I start the car, it fires up and it makes these new chomping/squeaking noises. I pop the hood and to my laugh the crank pulley is having a wobble. I let it run for 20-30 mins - all the noises go away, and the crank pulley stops wobbling.
From what they tell me, I bought the car on October 2nd, with 60k miles. (04 e55 amg) have only had it for 5 days, and they put another engine rebuilt with a new crankshaft purchases with all the other new components. They then toss in the rebuilt engine from a car that has 81k miles lol.... with the so called new components.
Every morning that I start this car in the cold it makes a belt screeching noise from the alternator side - almost below it, and it goes away in 15 mins. With the occasional convenience features off battery protection, and goes away.
The car is a absolute blast to drive. I love it and the feeling i get lauching it full throttle is amazing!!!
I have a lawyer fighting this and looks like they have ignored my demand letter - the letter has been with them for 16 days and they have another 14 days. My guess is it will go to court.
What are your thoughts about the job done? Is it normal for these things - there explanation was it needs to break in?? It honestly seems they took too many short cuts - in fact when I had the car hood popped - I showed them that both plastic tubed had cracks and tears on them.... this has been a big night mare, but I can't wait to see what my lawyer does!
