Front Caliper Rebuild
Hey guys,
I am rebuilding my calipers after powder coating and have hit a dead end for one of the parts. Looking for the cross-over/connecting pipe on the caliper. Apparently Mercedes doesn't list it separately. I purchased a handful from a porsche dealership (cayenne, caymen and 911) pipes, they are all too deep and cause interference issues with 19s or too narrow and when stretched become too shallow.
Any assistance would be appreciated.
Also for those looking for seals cheapest place I found was http://store.zeckhausen.com/catalog/...46_986_987_990
wish they had this piece as well.

IF you can't find them it appears you can easily make one with a small piece of tubing and a flair end tool. But it also appears there is nothing wrong with it in the pic?

Ah, then you may have to build one. It shouldn't be that difficult. Worse comes to worse, bring the caliper to a garage that should have the flairing tools and have them do it.

Curious, does that piping really need to be removed to be powdered?
Also is it better to refinish then rebuild?

Is it better than a lick of new paint over all bolts and parts? Of course, but it is more involving as well with a lot to go wrong (e.g. stripped old threads and bolts). Depends what you want to achieve and how high your bar is.

If you want a proper rebuild, then - yes - everything has to come off to the last part, then blasted, de-rusted, freshly painted and assembled with new hardware (new dust caps, new piston seals, new pad guide bolts etc).
