Keyless Go problems after key replacement

I am having some problems with keyless go on my 06 E55 (54K miles) which all started after replacing two keys (car came with one and the second broke). Not sure if its relevant or not but I should mention it. This all started right around the time it started to rain a lot around here and afterwards got pretty cold. Something I have noticed affects it as well.

These are my symptoms:
  • Passenger side zone and the trunk zones work fine.
  • Drivers side does not.
  • The drivers door will open with a grasp of the handle in the afternoon once it gets warmer but never in the morning.
  • Passenger side open never works.
  • I have noticed on cold mornings the square black buttons feel frozen and won't push that well.
  • The buttons on both doors will always lock the car (other than when they are frozen).
I have done lots of reading so I know the door handles go after a while. Would one door going out affect the receiver for the whole side? Do they work in tandem or is there a module that looks for the key? I cant seem to find any definitive answers when both doors are going on one side. If it was JUST the drivers or drivers passenger door I could see it being the handle without a doubt.

Any insight on your experiences would be great!

Thanks!

When I got my car, 3 of the door handles didn't work, the driver side, the passenger side and the rear left. The lock button worked on the passenger side though, just not the unlock. All 3 door handles got replaced. I did take one apart and they have very simple buttons behind the handle and on the door lock. I guess they just corrode or go bad after a while. There are many modules to the system, but the only real way to tell if it's just the door handle is to take it to the dealer or find someone who has Star diagnostic and it should tell you whether it's the door handle or something else. The handles aren't cheap either, you have to get them in the color of your car or have them painted if you have a designo color. They seem to range anywhere from $150-$175 and up. I think the dealer can list for $300+ each. There's a few threads floating around about how it's not that bad of a DIY procedure, just a couple of screws to swap handles. It's a really nice feature, if mine go again, I'm just going to replace the driver's side door handle, it's really the one I use the most.

You basically have two choices, either pay the diagnostic fee which might be the cost of a door handle. Or just get a driver's door handle. If that doesn't fix it, either hold onto it or sell it on eBay and then pay the diagnostic fee to the dealer.

Man, its just so odd that two doors would go at the same time. I really think these handles dont like the cold. And we are not talking east coast cold... we are talking California cold. Not exactly extreme temperatures here.

I don't think it's the cold so much as the water/humidity affecting the switch. I think if you're read most of the keyless go threads, most of the time the problem is the handles.
