E55 Heat Exchange and Split Cooling Kit

I’m planning to buy heat exchange and separate the I/C coolant water, from your experience please advise which heat exchange I should buy and which split cooling kit I should use?

I have the EC heat exchanger and the BIP Split cooling kit. Both awesome products and no complaints. Makes a difference in the heat!

Is there any major difference between EC Heat Exchange and PLM Heat Exchange from both performance and installation point of views.
Also I had a search in BIP website and cannot see the split cooling kit, can you please send me the URL link or any picture for this kit.

I'm not sure about the heat exchanger. I would search and see if anybody has a comparison. Installation should be similar.

Here is the BIP Split cooling kit:

Send them an email and see if they can ship to you.

Many thanks for the reply
BIP website doesn’t showing the split cooling kit picture and it doesn’t mention any details about the contents of this kit ..... since you already used this kit can you please explain the details of this kit, does it include the required parts to do the water separation?

It includes all the parts needed to split the intercooler fluid from the engine coolant. No extra parts are needed. I will post a photo of mine later today for you.

Check with Shardul to see if he's got any more f his heat exchangers. Fitment was perfect.

If you had a later model year with the extra cooler underneath the heat exchanger, I'd suggest the PLM for it's ability to mount that cooler. Otherwise, either will do well for you.

Yeah, the main thing with the PLM is the brackets for the oil cooler for the later model cars!

unless you have 2003 or early 2004 model, then go with PLM as its cheap and direct fit (and its the only one that retains stock oil cooler in OEM position)

Actually yes my E55 is 2003 model so my understanding from your replies that I should not be concerned about the oil cooler fitment/position ….. what about FTP, it looks bigger, does it have any fitment issues on 2003 car model?

If you have 2003, then yes I'd definitely get the FTP. It's huge, and still mounts easily (unlike EC that requires drinking holes).

Thanks for your advice, I heard that people who had FTP HE have to cut their bumpers and/or the plastic cover, this is not going to be required for 2003 model, correct?

To the OP, I just fitted a PLM heat exchanger this weekend and it fits perfectly, no bulge in the bumper and AITs are way down from what they were

Also could someone possibly put up the contents of the split kit, I have a bmw reservoir already and see how to split, just not sure on hose size and pipe joiner sizes needed
