How much for an E55 engine? hmmm . . .
Hey, you E people. Hope you don't mind me asking for some advice on the E-Class forum.
Was just wondering if 11k for an 02 E55 engine, fully tested, only 10k miles and including shipping was a reasonable deal? Planning to drop that engine or any equivalent v8 into my car. Thx
Cheers,

..........the w210 E55 is a very nice car but the resale prices have dropped since the w211 was introduced. It is not uncommon to find one under $30K. It may be cheaper to sell your can and buy a w210 E55. If you get the engine for $11K and say it costs another $4k to transplant it into your car........That is $15K out of pocket for you already and all you have left over is your cars previous engine. If your car is worth at least $20K, you can sell it and get a W210 E55 for only $10K more.

Maybe he wants to put the E55 engine in a CLK430 AWD?
AWD with the E55 engine in a CLK430 chassis would be nice, unless one could find a CLK55 with AWD.
It would definitely help with standing start acceleration, if it did not break.

Point taken. I don't like the old e55 body/exterior, plus the process of custom fitting my car with an engine would make it stand out more...would have gone for the c v8 brabus engine but it's way to xpensive. I think I can negotiate the price of the e55 engine for 8-9k too so, that's a pretty good deal....plus i've done so much to my car as it is, letting it go would be almost like parting with my own flesh and blood.
.............understood. I did the same with mmy CLK. I had purchased a CLK 320 and did so much to its exterior and then added DVD video, pS2 ect plus added kleemann suspension and upgraded sway bar etc...........When it came to the engine, I decided to go with the supercharger. Then I added boost kit, ECu, and changed the diff and added new custom air box. Car is awesome now, but definitely way way more than just buying a CLK 55. Just couldn't part with car after I started modifying it. So, I see your point.

The reasons teh Brabus conversion costs so much is because they rebuild a bespoke front end sicne you can't fit that 5.5 V8 in there without any body mods, this is where it gets pricey, as the change in shape also has to satisfy safety regulations...
The upcoming W203 C55 will be 8cm longer in the nose than other C-classes....due to that V8...
