Hard Wire V1?

Anyone have a V1 hard wired in E55? I plan on doing that but I am scared to death to allow some wire cuttin radio installer to get turned loose on the car. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks.

Mine is hardwired, and it is the only way to go. I had mine draw power from the light in the overhead consol.

I don't think you can use the overhead console in the new E's, since they have the flat wires in the overhead, but maybe I just could not figure out how to do it. I did it going to the cig lighter power under the dash. Had to run the wire under the headliner and the A column to get under the dash, but it works great.

Not only is the hardwire essential but the stealth adapter is also key. I got mine hardwired at Best Buy ($50) They also include a lifetime warranty on the install. So, if something does go wrong you know a company like bestbuy will be around to fix the problem. The install manager told me, "we usually don't like to hardwire cars that they don't have previous work with". Just find a installer that has worked with your car, you'll be alright.

Talk about V1 stealth design...

Check this out: www.jaricdes********/products.htm
Hope they have an application for the MB soon...
