Sec. Cat removal...Question,

One shop says they can remove the sec. cat but would need to see the car first before giving a quote ( these guys did my res delete + cls63 muffler install )

Another shop says he will only install high flow cats. 150 CDN for the high flow cats + installation.

An extra 150 is a none issue, but Im looking for more grunt. Will I get that with the high flow cats versus the complete removal to straight pipe?

What am I better off doing?

Thanks guys.

Take it out..... you will have no problems. Makes it sound a little better as well. I did it with resonator removed as well and love it.

1st I had...Resonator Delete (with Straight Pipes) & C63 mufflers and I loved it.

I decided to delete my secondary cats and add an H-Pipe. It got louder for sure...too loud, I'm not sure yet, but certainly noticeable. The one thing I will say is mine got a bit raspy...I'm not sure if it's the h-pipe, but I'm 50/50 on if I should have deleted the secondary's myself.

Here is a clip if it helps:

I left the factory cross over in place. It was easy to do it that way and still has a little factory look to it.

I' remove the secondary cats and resonator. Granted I have a 63 not a 55, but the sound change was amazing. I also went with a X pipe in place of the stock H pipe.

I had Kleemann long tubes and primaries deleted at first . I took of the secondaries and it wasn't much of a change . I then deleted the resonator and added a x pipe . The level of sound is just right but it's a bit too raspy for my taste . I am looking for a pair of C63or E63 mufflers for a deeper less raspy sound.

Has me curious now. If I go headers would it be less raspy or just louder than the vid I posted? I'm still getting familiar with the E55/AMG cars so curious what people think as too raspy.

Your car has a deeper note than mine bc of the C63 mufflers . The headers will make it louder for sure. That's why I'm thinking C63 mufflers may be too loud with my set up . A buddy told me that E63 mufflers will give the same tone as the c's which is probably where I want to land but I have not heard that set up as of yet.

God I hate that rasp. What is with that rasp?!?!! Why do the 55k motors rasp?!! The M156 rasps as well but depending on exhaust, it's still alot deeper though.

The mufflers you run determine how raspy the exhaust note will be .
