Brake replacement 03 e55 rotors and pads
I really hate the way the brakes "feel" on my e55 - which, I am now learning is a symptom of the sbc system. I imagine that the car actually brakes really well given the speeds it reaches and the weight of the car, but it sure feels crappy to me. I just bought my car about 2 weeks ago and it looks like it may have been pad slapped recently. Rotors have a lip, but the pads are nearly new. I was thinking about replacing the rotors and pads to change the feel.
Am I going to regret spending the money? Will change to an aggressive rotor/pad change the feel of the braking or am I pissing up a rope?
If so, what is the preferred brake setup on this forum?
I was going to go with-
front rotors:
1.CENTRIC Part # 12835068 stoptech sport drilled rotor $100each
2.Textar Coated High Carbon Brake Rotor $95 each
3.Otto Zimmermann Coat-Z Brake Rotor coated $120 each
Front pads:
1.textar oem pads $100
2.StopTech Street Performance Pads $120
rear rotors:
1.CENTRIC Part # 12835077 stoptech sport drilled rotor $70each
2.Textar Coated High Carbon Brake Rotor $70 each
3.Otto Zimmermann Coat-Z Brake Rotor coated $110 each
Rear pads:
1. TEXTAR oem pads $65
2. PAGID pads $65
(I wanted to stay away from ceramics because I don't really like the feel) ANy suggestions?
Thank you!

I currently used Zimmermann Coat-Z Brake Rotor and StopTech Street Performance Pads. I used to have textar oem pad they squeal like crazy. Also i heard a lot good reviews on AKEBONO EURO pads

unfortunately stoptech doesn't make a damn rear pad... that was my only hesitation with the stoptechs, I really didn't want to mix and match. what pads are you using on your rear?

anyone else?... Totally uninspired by braking feel in my car at stock level... feel like it would be downright scary with full bolt-ons......
need to address braking before I start to mod. thanks!
any opinions on the EBC pads sold by ecs tuning?

On My BMW I went aftermarket and dialed it in from turnermotorsports.com was always super happy with my brakes.
On the E55 it was always on my list to upgrade the brakes - but then there was that one day that I had to stomp on the brake pedal and I **** my pants at how responsive they were - sure OEM feel sloppy with the weight of the car but under pressure they deliver. At this point I don't see any point in running anything other than OEM.
I've read a **** ton of posts on many sites that basically say the same thing, OEM is pretty damn good.

MBWorld Fanatic!
Akebono pads smooth out the initial jerkiness of the SBC and they do not dust.
Car stops surprisingly well when needed - even with the stock rotors
