E63 AMG warped Rotors/discs. Front or Rear?
Hi. I have 2007 E63 wagon that has recently started to show signs of warped rotors (or discs as we call them here in the uk). Sometimes the steering wheel will shake when first applying the brakes, but only briefly. The whole car shudders, and you can feel it through the brake pedal. Now the wheel would rarely shudder, but the whole car would all the time, so I naturally hanged the rear discs and pads for new ones. I cleaned the hub faces well and applied a smear if copper grease before putting he new discs on.
The damn thing still shudders like I haven't changed anything. So, I either have warped hubs on the rear, bad wheel bearings or it is in fact the fronts that need replacing. Rear hubs seem unlikely, no bearing rumble, but why doesn't the steering wheel shake all the time?? The only thing I can think of is that these cars are fitted with a steering damper which is masking the front wheel wobble.
Anybody come across this before? Do they have steering dampers?

I had a good look today and pretty sure I've found the cause. The problem started not long after having new pads fitted all round. I assumed that as the discs were nearing the end of their life that the new pads had rubbed on the lip on the outer edge of the disc and heated them up too much.
What has actually happened is the old pads on the front had not been touching all the way to the inside of the disc (close to the hub) on the inside face. The new pads did, but over time, because the inside ring had corroded, it has started to break up a little, so when braking, the pad runs in and out of the uneven surface creating the pedal to pulse and the car to shudder. There is little wheel shudder because it's on the very inside edge and not across the whole disc.
Pictures probably explain it better...

That was the fronts. I replaced the rears but it made no difference hence the reason for looking closer at the fronts.
New ones are on the way. I'll take some better pictures once they are off.
