Fair price for tranny fluid change?

Looking to change the fluid/filter in the tranny and am getting numbers from $399-$450 to do the job. Seems high to me. What are you guys paying?

wow thats high. do the places you are getting prices from know you have a 722.6 and not a 722.9? $300 is where it should be. 4-450 is 7 speed price.

I believe you can use Shell ATF 134. You can get it from a local shell distributor for about $60-$70 for a case of 12 quarts.

Guys, in the US you're lucky!
I'm getting raped at the North. $800 CAD for Transmission service + trans mount.
We have few experienced (Mercedes) shops here, so we don't have many choices.

Try finding an indy. I think you just need to go to the dealer if it needs star diagnostic, but a fluid change and mount is pretty basic and an independent mechanic should be able to do it. There are several DIY threads around of it getting done for just the cost of the filter and fluid.

The problem with Las Vegas is we have very little competition so the prices are silly here.

722.6 is very easy to flush yourself, I did it on my SL55.

For the 722.9, I paid something like 300€ in Germany.

I just got a quote from a local indy:

Transmission service is $300, Transmission filter, Pan Gasket, 13 pole connector and 5-6 qts of MB transmission fluid.

How does that sound?

Even dealer charged $350 few years back. Any indy should be around $250 to $300 top.
