How to order SAM?
Hi everyone,
If I need to order a front driver side SAM, what do I need when ordering? Are they different or all the same? How do I know which one is correct?
Also, If I need to order the SAM under the passenger foot well, is that the same procedure?
I have a car that one of them is fried, I will replace both, but just don't know which part would be correct or if they are feature specific.

-Sign up with the Mercedes Electronic Parts Catalog. It's free. epc.startekinfo.com
-Log in. Read the tutorial. Go back to EPC, enter your VIN. Select subgroup.
-EPC will list the most current part number.
-Copy the part number and see if it is available on Mercedes parts sites such as moparfactoryparts.com, mercedespartscenter.com, autohausaz.com, pelican parts, or others.
-Install SAM and initialize with diagnostic system.

If you have DAS Sim on your computer, use that to experiment before you actually touch your car. If you don't have DAS Sim, you'll need to find someone who does. DAS Sim literally walks you through the procedure as though you are in a classroom.
I cannot answer your question on reprogramming used SAMs. I just don't know (yet).
Items such as door control modules can be re-programmed; anything labeled as a "theft-related part" cannot be reprogrammed without replacement of the programmable chip (whatever it may be).
Hope this helps.

Ok I will check on that. So are all the SAM's basically the same, they just need programming?
Well, as long as the part number matches?
I am thinking it is these (I will verify with STAR)..But, someone jumped the compressor wire from the front SAM and it sparked and now the car will not start, but everything else works.
