If the SL55 doesn't have the same problem, then it's because of the tuning for the SL55. SL55 was designed to be more sporty than E55, and there's quite a few differences just because of that.

Anyway to trick an E55 ECU into thinking its an SL55? Or can SL55 ecu programming be applied to E55?

Yes have done that as well, not only me but a few others, made the tuners base the tune off the sl and same thing. Many people have noticed this as well in the past and truthfully you lose quite a bit when it closes to 89% before the shifts

If it still doesn't behave like an SL55, then the tuning file does not have all of the same change as SL55, or it's because the ECU code is behaving based on a setting or detection of the setup (ie: am I an SL55? Then keep full throttle, otherwise reduce to 89%)

Surely some smart person could figure out how to trick the ECU into behaving like an SL55.

maybe it has something to do with the SL55 after 2003 getting larger blue top solenoids in the valve body allowing for more torque capacity due to the higher line pressure? I think late E55's eventually got them too. Unfortunately my 03 did not have them as it was built in 11/2003. I haven't logged it yet to see if this throttle closing thing occurs on it or not.

Years ago I made a microprocessor controlled piggy back type unit but the coding go too involved as it communicated with both CAN B and C. Plus I had a baby so there went all my time. About 3 months ago I decided to build a analog version with a knob to adjust firmness, it works , thought about making more but it was. Little time consuming. If I did it again I would prob only have like 2 settings, mild firmness and full on

Nope, not that either, I have a late 2005 and a few 2006 that got logged had the same thing. I will talk to the tuners and see if they are raising the tq limiters in the ecu but I'm sure they already are

Was this something that intercepted the pressure solenoid signals from the computer? Sounds really cool that you did that.

Yes it taps into the modulation pressure and shift pressure solenoids.

So it ....your add on unit, is "seeing" the demand signal in order to adjust the pressures at the solenoids?
