2008 E63 Exhaust Questions
Hey guys, just bought a 2008 e63 at 52k miles. I want to get a more throatier exhaust but I have no idea on what to expect from the following combinations.
The most important factors for me are...
1) I want no drone or very minimal drone
2) I want that popping sound.
1) Stock primary cats -> X-pipe (2nd cats delete) -> Straight pipes (resonator delete)
2) Stock primary cats -> X-pipe (2nd cats delete) -> Stock resonator
3) Stock primary cats -> 2nd cats -> X-pipe (resonator delete)
4) Some other combo?
Can any of you with the previous combo please chime in?
Thanks all.

Mine sounds sweet with just the resonators deleted. Even the wife likes it! Muted rumble while cruising. Barks and roars when getting on it. Snap crackle and pop on decel.

you wont get drone in any of those combos.
res delete with straights will be ok. if you want beastly and more popping then ill suggest 2nd cat and res delete + x pipe

When you say 2nd cat and res delete + xpipe, where exactly does the xpipe get replaced? On the resonator or the 2nd cat?

I'm very interested myself in deleting the secondary cats while leaving the stock resonator in. Not too many people have this set up, as they tend to go for the resonator removal most of the time along with the secondary cats.
Tagging on to this thread... would a simple xpipe in place of the secondary cats would give you that result? I hear the removal of the secondary gives you a small boost n HP and TQ, but also seem to read a loss of power in low end torque. Lastly what should a job like this cost roughly?

I did the resonator delete first and in my opinion it would give the sound that most people want. It does pop a little on decel, but not enough to be annoying.
