Hi guys,

So I was in my 2004 E55 and I just recently replaced the combination switch (flasher/wiper stalk). Everything is working great.

The other day I left work like every other day and I stopped at a parts store to pick up a piece for my race car. I get back in the car and go to start it, and the engine turns over, battery has lots of power, starter works, but the engine wont start... The car was running perfectly before and has never given me a starting issue.

So I undid the battery terminal, let the car sit for 20 min, then tried to start it again; still nothing... So I called CAA, and had the car towed to my house.

The next morning I go outside, the car starts like a charm but threw a CEL (P0335). Now the car starts all the time but the CEL is there. Also I cant clear the CEL with my OBDII code reader.

Whats going on here?? Im afraid to take the car anywhere incase it doesnt start. Help!

Crank position sensor. Common issue.

50 bucks for the sensor and 10min of your time... problem solve. good luck.

Now im wondering, is there a chance that the car wont start again somewhere if i drive it around, or now that the CEL has gone off, it'll just throw a cel but always start?

There are many good DIY's if you search.i carry one in the trunk along with basic tools and belts.

Yes, the problem will be intermittent, but get worse.

I changed mine for the hell of it and carry the original in the trunk with the tools to swap it out if need be. Cheap insurance!
