I am currently looking at a 2005 E55 with 109k on the odometer for a steal of $11k.. I pulled a car fax on it which checked out okay and have seen a ton of pictures with the only body imperfection being a small hairline crack on the front bumper. The seller has notified me that the front lower ball joints will need attention in the future as well as front rotors.. Is there anything I should pay special attention to when going to look at the car and is there any advice that could be given to me as a first time E55 owner?

damn. I might buy that from under you.

 

IMO, too good to be true for $11K. You need the seller to show you all the receipts and run autocheck report. Carfax is useless... I once bought a car with clean carfax and autocheck shows frame damage. Just make sure the car is really clean. Good luck.

Autocheck lists the car as a score of 79 with no history of accidents or anything major other than loan/lien records from past owner. I was thinking $11k was to good to be true as well but the owner is in a rough spot with student loans and working three jobs. He also has receipts for everything he has done.

 

Also to be noted is the srs light is illuminated from an apparent front passenger seat sensor which was diagnosed by MB dealer.

 

The car is worth 11K in parts alone.

 

Any airmatic issues?

 

I'm not a fan of the two tone interior, but the car looks good. Even if it had airmatic issues, at this price you'd still come out on top. I'd drive it to the dealer, and have them check it out.

 

He says there aren't any airmatic issues.

 

Do you happen to know how much a stealership would charge to do a look over on it? And I take it that you have seen the car I'm talking about? lol

I think maybe 200 bucks or so to check it over. Well worth it, and should be in your budget at this price. Ask for a printout of the DAS tests.

 

I'll have to see what I can do about that. I'm not too worried about the interior color though. I am still kicking myself in the rear for letting a blue '05 E55 with the rare blue interior slip through my hands back in January... It was such a beautiful car loaded up with all of the options.

 

Silver one? Yeah it looks pretty good. And at that price I'd go for it too. It leaves wiggle room for any pop up repairs.
