I went with a lot of elbow grease, wire brushes, sandpaper, and Duplicolor silver ceramic-based caliper paint. It didn't require a lot. Besides, once these things get to a certain state of exterior oxidation, there's only so much you can do with cleaning products and a wire brush. Here's my before/after:
