Help, Rough Idling.

Upon receiving my ECU back from EC, because it was sent for them to unlock it from safe mode after attempting to download a tune file. Inserted back the ECU, and the car start idling roughly. The whole car was shaking, engine sounded as if the plugs were gone. Contacted EC to let them know what is going on. I was informed to drive it around for like 60 miles for the ECU to re-adjust. On a stand still, put on drive, the shakiness is unbearable, have to put on park each time I stop. Codes were pulled, showing problem with cylinder 2, 6, 7, and 8 injectors. Also saying something about the PCM.

Can someone explain why this is happening?

No. The local EC supposed to be getting me a code from Jake to clear the codes after deleting the secondary sensor, but need to resolve this rough idling issues first, it's really bad. Feels like the car is out of gas once you start the engine, then engine vibration, misfire, loss of power/Acceleration. Called EC back, and they still want me to drive it around for ECU adjustment, but can't just stand driving the car around in such condition. Checked all fuses, and wiring all over again. All looks good.

Has anyone have an experience with bad ECU tuning before, and what it feels like?

Do you have tuning cable? Can you flash back to stock?

Yes, I do have one. I would have tried doing that, but this is the 2nd time the ECU will lock up on me, and have to send the ECU to EC to be unlocked. I will try to see if I can schedule a custom dyno tune. This tune files are not working well for me.

I have told you this before. what you consider separate problems, I think are all related. This is why I get annoyed when you start yet another thread where you present a new problem without giving the background. I guarantee you that you'll not get your issues solved this way.

There is an excellent chance that the car runs so bad because of the O2 sensor issues. I think you need to be looking at the ECU itself. I don't know of any test procedure for different circuits in your ECU, but something is very wrong.

I feel you need to think about whether you are the right person to work on cars. These are complicated machines, and if you're not an engineer at heart, you're really better off leaving well alone.

Here's a possible way of doing an ECU swap.

I am posting this as information. I'm not saying you should do this.

Trust me, I don't mess around with the car like that. Engine work, electronics, I stay out of it. So you think a custom dyno tuning won't solve the problem? What about just replacing the ECU?

The new codes I'm pulling now are different from the last I pulled before sending out the ECU. Only three out of those eight codes are still showing, plus 4 additional codes.

The problem with the ECU swap is that it is a major undertaking. Nonetheless, it is very strange that you cannot flash your ECU.

Have you done the "sneaky reset"? There's been a lot of speculation about what it actually resets, but perhaps long term fuel trims are included, and maybe it helps. It is certainly not going to hurt.

If you have access to STAR at all (even if you have to pay someone a little money), You can get a full report of all current and stored events. It will tell you things like shorts in the wiring and all sorts of nifty things.

I did the sneaky ecu reset this morning, no changes. The ecu re flash was done the last time before I sent it out. It did say download completed, and ecu in safe mode, then the ESP malfunction screen came up. Afterwards, the car will not start, but does crank.

Problem resolved. After getting the same messages from EC individual answering calls, asking me to drive the car for like 60 miles for the ecu to re-adjust, I finally decided to shoot Jerry a email, and list all my symptoms. To my surprise, he responded within 30 min, asked me to re-seat the ecu and plug in wires, that the car does that at times. I did as he instructed, and my car is now back to normal.

Special thanks to Jerry once again.

What about special thanks to Shardul that recommended that 8 days ago and 7 minutes after your post? lol

But glad you're fixed! I'm sure it's super frustrating!

I checked all electrical connections that time as well, and all seemed fine. But have to do the re-connection all over again. I didn't know he meant for me to do that. Thanks to all as well for there suggestions.
