Just bought an 03' E55 AMG

If you're going to keep an e55 for a long time, and actually drive it, then in your ownership, you're probably going to replace the fuel pumps anyway.
It is a biggish expense, but at least you'll get it out of the way.

Suppose to be a solid car.
The dealership is BBB accredited with an A+ rating.
Also the car is Carfax certified with 28 service records.
I have a new fuel pump kit on the way. Should be here on the 9th. It's an airtex unit and cost me $365.

Research what? The car? The dealership where I bought?

Did you research these cars (w211 e55) and known problems first is what I meant. Can't miss the sticky on first page of forums regarding the fuel pumps and tanks being replaced under extended warranty. And there are a few things about the 03 cars that are prone to failure over the other model years

Lance1337,
Sorry to hear of your travails; I also had my E55 put me on the side of the road the day I bought it. It sucks when the new toy breaks....
Mine was the CPS the first time. This past month or so was another issue. Since your car is earlier than mine, it most likely has the obsolete parts in it. See the following to see what I did to work towards a resolution on my car.

Best to you. These E55s are great when they run but it would be nice if they came with a trained maintenance team. I *strongly* suggest that you purchase a diagnostic assistance system (aka DAS or STAR) for your car. Otherwise you'll be paying $90 or so every time the check engine light illuminates.
FWIW, if you have the original part number relays (A002-542-13-19) in the right rear of the trunk, replace them with the new relays (A002-542-72-19). Even MB prices are only $12 or so. Aftermarket is $7 or so. Cheap insurance. FWIW, only the E55 has two relays on the right-hand side; all other E-series versions have one relay on the left-hand side.
Good luck. It's a fun drive.

incorrect. unfortunately this is extremely common for people to mistake and people are replacing the i/c pump relay instead of the fuel pump relay as the fuse charts are incorrect. if you can read the actual wiring diagrams all e55 fuel pump relays are on the right side passenger side of the trunk behind the trunk panel. i wouldnt be surprised if all you needed was the relay for now to get it started.

Most excellent to hear! Rocman to the rescue!
The documentation for AMG vs non-AMG cars leaves a bit to be desired.
-Non-AMG fuel pump relays on the left. AMG fuel pump relays on the right; one relay for early versions, two for later versions (thank you, Rocman!).
-Fuel pump controllers on (early/late)??? version? I've seen documentation online but my car doesn't have these controllers. At this time I don't know if they are on early or later versions.
-DAS for pre-05/2005 shows circuit 15 and 15R off of N10/1kP. An online MB document states circuit 15 off of N10/1kN and 15R off of relay N10/1kP. Which is it?
Build change-over date was 05/2005. My car was built after this date with a delivery date of 10/2005. In 2006 there was another major change in the E55. Trying to follow the changes is a slight challenge.
It's little details such as the above that make me regard this car as a challenge to be conquered. :-)
Hope you enjoy your car, Lance.
