How do you fix a crack in the rear bumper?
I recently took an E55 rear bumper I have to a panel beater, it has a 2.5 inch crack in the middle of where the bumper meets the trunk lid. It's from left to right along the width of the car. The panel beater told me I need to take it to get reconditioned before he can spray it because that can't "just be repaired easily" and it will crack when moved or shaken.
Is he right, are these bumpers hard to fix or does he just not know how to? It's an OEM bumper, not sure what material. The crack is honestly not very large and it's not gaping. How can one fix a crack on their rear bumper?
I'll post pics as soon as I can.

My dad has had a crack and a hole fixed on his 300c rear bumper. Maaco did it both times and it looked great for $200. I was impressed with the paint match also.
