New e55 downsides of meth

Pick up a e55 couple weeks ago. Must of been owned by an older guy. I got the VMI for the car and lots were changed recently. All I had to do was ball joints and bearings. Looking to make the car a bit faster in the next few months and heat seems like is the biggest factor. Thus far I've done the newer bosch pump. Curious what the downsides are to meth? What happens when the meth runs out? Could I blow up the engine if an injector goes out? Would love to run it since the benefits are great, but not sure of the downsides. Seems like people still run into heat issues with a heat exchanger, so im not sure what benefits there would be running a slightly larger one.

depends on what you're planning on doing

get a bigger H/E for use - ever since I've replaced mine I haven't had heat soak at all (in my style of driving) but if you're looking to put down crazy power and sustained high speed runs - then meth is a good choice... search on here (or other sites too) lots of work done with water/meth injection...

You will not blow up your motor if you run out of meth/water since the tune will not be dependent on the extra octane, it will be used for cooling only. As toad posted do searches on the subject

Worse gas mileage, because you may have a heavier right foot without the dreaded heat soak!

If you improve air and fuel flow through the engine you will gain power and lower the heat.
(Headers, 82mm TB, drop in filters, 550 injectors and tune)
Up the boost and you will benefit from WI for cooling.

More boost=more heat=less timing=less power

My primary concern was if the water runs out, that engine goes kaboom. It appears since I am primarily adding it for cooling and not for power, there would be no issues since the engine would just get hot and timing would get pulled. Correct me if im wrong.

You're not tuning for it. No kaboom

too much water (solenoid/check valve failure) could hydrolock the motor or worst case mushroom a piston....seen it happen on a car running on the "kill" tune (19* timing).

Has a hydrolock from meth ever happened?

Obviously if you tune the car improperly with Meth it adds an enormous amount of risk or if you run too much meth it adds an enormous amount of risk but both of those factors come down to a proper tuner. They should be able to advise correctly.

Many of the risk factors of meth can be mitigated by choosing the appropriate tuner.

But how would the tune account for a hardware failure?
