Need advice on a 2008 E63 w/ 67k
First post here, so take it easy on me fellas. I have been drooling for years to get a preowned E63. Now that I can afford to spend up to $24,000, I came across a 2008 E63 with 67k miles. I probably would have bought one long time ago, but the maintenance and the reliability ahs always scared the crap out me.

what I would like to know is, how reliable is E63 2007-2008 model? And what are the typical things that do break, and would you recommend to buy one?

The w211 E63 AMG is as reliable as any upscale high performance German vehicle.
Remember, the price of a car may depreciate, but maintenance costs don't. You can minimize those costs by getting a PPI done and getting your hands on documented service (VMI if possible) and ensure everything that should be done is done. But even then, things do come up and you should be financially capable to handle them (or DIY if you have the skillset).
Specifically against the W211 E63, the only real scare is the head bolt issue that affects some M156 engines made before mid 2010. I've never seen any metrics of how many folks have been affected by this. OEM rotor replacement is over $2k.

Cam adjusters, camshafts, and lifters. Just look in to those costs before you buy a car or check to see if they have been addressed yet. It would put someone that can afford a 24k car right out of the game. Forgot to mention headbolts.
