lowering an e55

I know there are alot of threads on this but not sure any have answered my question. the 3 ways I have found to lower the car through seaching is adj. links, washers, and a ELM. Today while getting my oil change I discussed this with the owner of the mercedes shop, he said he can basically trick the computer, no need for adjustable links (which I already ordered) and charge is $75 bucks to do this so not bad at all being links were $125. Has anyone gone this route? what is you opinion on this "tricking the computer" method? pics would be nice to see if anyone feels like posting theirs with this method.

Mine were put in by the previous owner but I think star is better simply because you don't have to get under the car, especially the rear. And when my front passenger side broke and fell, it dropped bad.

When you lower with STAR, is that "lowering" information flashed onto the Airmatic module and if so, will swapping this Airmatic module from a STAR lowered car into another car result in the other being lowered because it has the Airmatic module from the first one?

BUMP on the question I asked above. The reason I ask is I have an Airmatic module from a STAR lowered car, I was wondering if the lowering is "saved" on the module.

If you are in the area I'll lower yours via Star. No washers though. I only do it within specs so you're safe and others in the road around you, too. At the end it is a safety thing. Send me a PM if interested.

I have done a lot of lowering in SoCal for a bunch of people around San Diego, LA, Riverside,...

Yea but who in his right mind would wanna use a module that was adjusted for a different car? Transferred modules and new modules should always be initialized. Standard values are being written and adjustments made to this particular car during the process. Then you can start lowering it.

Your car might be already lower, lighter, heavier, AIRmatic struts worn differently and the control module has to adjust for it. The stuff is endless.... Do it the right way for your and other's safety and to keep your car in good shape.

Ahh!! That's for the info. I didn't know the Airmatic module could have all those parameters in like strut wear and weight etc. Good to know

I have the Renntech ELM module and the driver rear gets very low over the course of a month. It's not leaking. I have to zero out the ELM (0" Drop) and wait for the airmatic system to go back to OE height, then raise/lower the suspension and shut the car off and it will level itself out. At that point I can dial back in the drop. It's not annoying but I always wondered what is going on. It seems like the height measurements between the system and ELM get a little out of whack
