What would you buy?
Gents,
I would love some advice from you that have been through what I'm going through. I want a weekend warrior. I'm thinking something relatively affordable and something with TONS of power.
My plan would be to gut the car and focus solely on power. No 20's, no lowering, no carbon fiber bits, no BS, just go fast.
What would you buy? E55? CTS-V? E60 M5? Anything else? Focus is on dirty raw power. Not here to impress anyone else, just something I can take out on the weekends that will get my palms sweating and heart beating.
Let me know your thoughts. I'm itching for a project!

Depends on what you like. If it's pure speed and you don't care about sound get a Tesla. If you like muscle buy a rolling chassis of an older car with a narrowed rearend. Drop in a big block with a big blower. I'm thinking of the later myself. The tesla would still be faster though.
Oh BTW my E still has my palms sweaty and my heart beating. When it doesn't I will install my pulley..

I rode in a 'T-bucket' a couple weeks ago. The gentleman who owned it is also the person who fabricated the frame and built the engine. The only piece that came from a manufacturer was the carriage off of an old Model-T. He had built a 427 big block with a large blower from a diesel engine. He built it super cheap, and it surely was much more powerful than my E55, scared the **** out me.

Sorry, the baseline for it all. I am thinking around $20? $25?
Tesla would be amazing. Out of my budget!
Haha I bet. I would agree a custom T bucket would be great but I need something with airbags.
Interesting options. What's these cars go for? Power after mods? Can one be had with E55 power for under $25?
I hear that. For Atom pricing you can get a 997 T Cab and solve all your problems.
I am grouping these two. They do not belong in the hands of an experienced driver/rider. Plus, no airbags.
What's a good year on this car? Or, when was the SC motor introduced?

unless you're speaking of a V1 a V2 definitely isn't in your budget. I can't imagine gutting any of those cars you just named, maybe if you just had money to burn like that and it really didn't matter.. If you're gutting a car and just want to go fast find a old F body drop in a built LSA, build the rear end and spray it.

C5 Vette with HCI - should get in under/close to budget but keep your eyes on the road! Don't let them start looking around the interior to avoid quickly realizing what a piece of **** you're are driving.

Pretty sure a base C6 vette can be had for around 20K. Throw on some heads and cams for around 5K give or take and enjoy an auto trans with roughly 650HP.

I think from 2009 they are supercharged 6.2L V-8 with an output of 550 horsepower and 550 lb-ft of torque ... You should able to find good deals today.

you can find some around 30k but nowhere near 20 unless beat to hell and has 100k + miles..But at the end of the day sounds like he wants to be the fastest guy on the block thats not going to happen with a stock V (I have an 11' ). so by the time you mod it you're looking at another 6-8 grand or so to get it where you want. no point in having a beautiful car just to gut it and race it imo..plus the thing is 4200lbs so you're still looking at 4klbs gutted relatively
Another route could be a honda s200 which can be had super cheap and swap in a lsx. or a bmw e34 and swap a single turbo 2jz..I can sell you the car

The supercharged V is out of you budget.
An ls1 with a pro charger can be done with your budget. The LS motors are very solid and make good power and they are fairly cheap . Respond great to mods.. I'm looking to get another one soon myself
