Question about NAV Update
for 2006 E55, I want to see if I can get an updated maps for the system as the maps currently loaded are old. I have no idea what version I have. how does one go about updating the map data on these systems? do you have to be at certain version level to update the latest software?
any pointers or help is appreciated.
Thanks

Hi there. I recently did this on my 2004 E55.
First off, just go to the trunk and eject the NAV DVD. Look at it. Mine was the 2004.1 version.
Secondly, I ended up going the ebay route.
I bought this exact item from this exact seller about a month ago: http://www.ebay.com/itm/161600071237
As it says in his ad, message him and give him your specifics. You will most likely need the service DVD. He will send you one of those for $20 extra. What you do is do buy it now, wait for him to modify the invoice, and then pay him.
Once you receive the DVDs the install is as follows. Turn on the car, eject the current NAV DVD, put in the service DVD, wait a few minutes, (watch the head unit for an update on the progress) and once that is complete insert the 2014 NAV DVD.
I paid a total of $63.98 for the 2014 NAV DVD and the service DVD shipped to my door. There are newer versions of the NAV DVD but they are more expensive.
Good luck! Feel free to message me any questions you have.

I just burned a new disc with a newer file I "found" on the web. Just put in the new disc and all was good. Nothing looks different, just the newer streets that were built after my old disc was made.
