While I'm embarrassed to post such dirty wheels, I had to share the result of my dance with a Chicago pothole. This is what happens when Michelin Super Sports with less than 500 miles hits a pothole on 90 East going 75mph. It's at the dealer now but early indication is that damage to the rims and suspension has been spared.

had the same thing happened to me with my Beamer.. pothole blew both passenger tires and bent both rims.. had to get her towed.... talking about pissEd!
That's bad, hope you get it back on the road soon.
I'm truly surprised by the shi**y roads in the US and Canada. I have lived in several countries in Europe and the Gulf states and the roads are truly fantastic.
Sorry to hear about your tire incident. Unfortunately, it is the price we pay for high style and performance combined with our bad roads. I keep a small SUV with thick tires for when the journey will be over rough roads. I know my turn at the tire shop is coming though.
The potholes in Indiana outside of Chicago almost murdered my 55 this past summer.. Made it home only to have to buy a whole new set of wheels after that trip.. Cleveland by far has the most screwed up roads though..
Sorry to hear. Not too surprising though - Illinois is so broke that they pay lottery winners in IOUs let alone fixing the roads...of course many other parts of the country are no better.

Wow, that's bad. I cant brag about California roads. I have the potholes memorized from the ride home to work. " I swear im not drunk officer, just avoiding potholes " lol

NYC roads can be pretty bad and I got pulled over once late at night because I looked like I was driving under the influence lol. The cops were good sports about it.
I too have been pulled over for not maintaining lane properly. After a 45 minute plate scan, 3 cops, a massive traffic jam and a breathalyzer they finally realized I was just going around the pot holes...

Damn, that's a bit over the top? I just got a "then don't put low profile tires on your car" speech. I just laughed it off and said okay.
to ls1toamg Wow never seen anything like that before
No one has. My guess is I had a small crack that gradually grew(like in a windshield) untill it couldn't handle the weight then boom it let go. I went back and couldn't find a pothole so a bump made it go.

My guess would be the inconsistent quality of China wheels. I've seen Chinese wheels crack in some funny ways.
Cast China wheels,
Forged wheel after a major impact. Notice the difference. This is why I only run OEM wheels or forged wheels.

unbelievable!!! I see those pics and the first thing that crosses my mind, is that the manufacturers shouldn't b allowed to sell paper thin wheels like those
This was me just a couple of weeks ago from hitting a monster of a pot hole in hollywood. luckily the wheel company has a great warranty program and sent me a replacement asap.
