Hey boys, I just bought my first AMG and wanted to say hello to everyone here. I've spent HOURS on this forum over the past couple of months but didn't create an account until I bought the car.
Anyway...it's a 2005 E55 in obsidian black. Interior is charcoal with the dark blue inserts (not sure what the actual term for this is). Pano roof, dynamic seats, yada yada.
The car has 57,8XX miles on it as it sits and is bone stock...for now. I bought it in Lexington, MA from a retired Harvard attorney who owned it since 28k. Full service records accompanied the vehicle.
I've already bought an FTP H/E, Bosch 010, Kleeman headers, 77mm clutched SC pulley and an 82mm TB setup but it's too cold up here in the Northeast to do any work so it'll have to wait until Spring.
This forum is immensely helpful and I'm thankful I found it.
Nice list of mods to do right off the bat. Please don't forget to do 550cc injectors as well. Some logging equipment would be good to have as well. Before installing all that make sure your fuel pumps and filter are good to go.

Thanks! Definitely on my to-do list before I install all the other stuff and starve the car of fuel.
And I already ordered some OEM replacement emblems to bring back the "V8 Kompressor" badging. I debadged those old ones already yesterday
ughhh i miss having that car in the family. it makes you smile bigger than the E63 S 4matic and just sounds and feels way more hot rod. the electronics can get very glitchy though so that's the only thing that'd worry me, but otherwise it's absolutely right at the top of my list of things i need to own one day. i might even take an E55 over a mkiv Supra which is the other car that's way up there. Supra is obviously the much better built car (potential controversy sparked here) but the E55's instantaneous grunt and sound is too addictive to ignore.

Believe me, when you drive the e55 it's solid as a rock, comfy as hell, and the bells and whistles for the price is great. The supra, it's fast yeah, 6spd is fun yeah. But a horrible driving experience... especially with the targa roof. It's just creaky clunky and feels old. Looks good though in the garage.
I've been told that if you have new pumps and filter you should be fine with stock injectors for 77mm clutched... is that not the case?

I went ahead and snagged a set of 550cc injectors this week.
I currently have the car torn apart in my garage. The valve cover gaskets were seeping on both sides (despite being done just 11,000 miles ago under warranty). So, once I have them pulled off, I decided to get the colder set of plugs and do all 16 of those and paint the valve covers and surge tanks as well. May as well put the injectors in too since it's all exposed.
Strongly considering pulling the S/C off, changing that oil, freshening it up with some paint and doing my 82mm TB now too to save having to pull it all apart again.
