Maintain your own W210 E55
With the first E55s going out of warranty (my 02's initial warranty period just ended, though the extended warranty continues), have any of you thought of doing your own service? Sometime soon the workshop manuals should be available on CD from MBUSA for $130 or less.

Mercedes couldn't tell me when the CD would be out. Not even a guess.
I bought the extended warranty for my '02 too, but it doesn't cover anything (and there's a $95 charge to have the dealer tell you a problem isn't covered) and I put 25,000 miles on the car in a year, so the extended warranty won't last long.
This is one of the finest cars I've ever driven; I plan to keep driving it till it falls apart.

I have heard that the CD Repair manuels only come out after the chassis has been out of production for 10 years. Don't know if that is true., but the W124 ended in 1995 and I have not seen a CD manual.
