Kompressor issue

I am a new user and have just joined this forum. My questions is,
Has any 5.5L Kompressor engine owners experienced undesired "jerking" of the car everytime the kompressor comes on line? Has anyone received any indication that AMG is working on resolving this issue?

Am I too picky or are there others that think that if they wanted a car with an "attitude", they would have purchased either a Porshe or a BMW.

My car jerks when the clutch kicks in (chirps) on the SC. Doesn't really bother me since the joyous sound that follows makes me quickly forget about it. Don't agree with the attitude statement though.

Mine jerks too and has the chirp.

But I actually like all that. It lets me know I have something more under the hood.

I drive without music on sometimes just to hear the supercharger whine.

Attitude: A mental position with regard to a fact or state. A feeling or emotion toward a fact or state. This car's abilities are a fact.

Thanks for the few replies. Don't get me wrong, I also love the sound and feeling and all that stuff. I just wanted to hear from other owners if it bothers them as much as I. It sounds like I might be a little picky so I guess I should slack off from AMG in Germany.

Have any on the list made a Renntech or Kleemann ECU and pulley upgrade? Does this upgrade reduce or get rid of the jerk since, from what I have been told, the pulley change just keeps the kompressor engaged at all times. Is this true?

The pulley will not cause the electromagnetic clutch to be continuously engaged, but it will cause the pulley to spin a little faster increasing the boost.

I still have the jerk after the RENNtech upgrade.

The clutch is a double edge sword- its there to prevent unwanted noise at idle and cruise. You can directy energize the clutch so its engaged all the time- you will be amazed at the noise (this will cause a MIL light but ignore it for the short term). The SC can take as much as 100 hp to drive at max RPM WOT. It, of course, engages at far lower speeds, still it is nearly 30 HP at the best case. Sort of like switching on 6 AC systems at once!

ECU programming will adjust timing and fuel delivery as well as offset for VMAX- none we have ever seen will change the engagement of the clutch, ours included.

Thanks everyone for clarifying about the pulley.

I'm glad that someone from Kleemann replied. I have a few questions then.

First, does Kleemann have an official rep/dist. in the montreal area, upper New York state would work. I'm dealing with someone here that says he is a Kleemann rep but doesn't even have his own garage/store, gets all installations done by third party installers.

Second, I did hear from these guys that Kleeman offers or will offer shortly a 60% limited slip Diff. with 3.06 final gear ratio instead of the factory 2.65. I'm interested to know how this will affect the car's warranty other than void the diff. warranty. Will this affect any other part of the car's warranty?

Third, I also heard that in complement to the pulley and ECU adjustments, headers would also become available shortly. Is it possible to get more details about the headers? One piece assemblies? Are there any noise increase estimates within the cabin, at idle, and at 70 mph?

If anyone on this list doesn't want to hear about all these things, let me know, I can take this off line directly.

Dear list members,

After revising my previous posting, I will apologize now for stating some comments that I am unsure off. I can't confirm officially that the local rep I am currently dealing with has or not his own garage.

This comment was misplaced and unfounded. Bottom line, just trying to be a well informed consumer.
