swapping 02 sensor plugs, how to re-pin ?

Hi Guys,

I got some longer 02 sensors from a different model mercedes, and need to swap the plugs over, I hear you can de-pin and re-pin them but wondered if anyone had done it and if you had any tips on how ?

the "old" connector is on the left (brown) and the new on the right (black)

left stock E55 02 connector (from sensor), and longer 02 sensor right from different model mercedes

bend the tabs up carefully and pull the wires. swap 1 wire at a time so you dont lose the positions.

If you can't gently wiggle them free you will need this tool. Use the longer round one and insert it all the way then pull.

Thanks @rocman8

I actually have that tool, I managed to get it done last night, but broke 2 of the tabs on one of the sensors it was a real PITA to get the wires out. Basically had to rotate the pin and then push, scrape and wedge it out. I broke 2 of plastic tabs when bending them up with a screwdriver so I may have to put a dab of gel superglue or epoxy to keep the pins from sliding out when plugged into the other side.

I'm going to do the 2nd sensor tonight.

I got the other one done, the lisle tool don't help, had to insert a small cross head screwdriver inside the pin, rotate it 180 and then pry it out the side with a small flat head. 3 pins came out easy, the 4th was a pig, but got it. Hopefully install them tomorrow or Friday and they'll work
