SL55 has an external fuel pump & filter. Why can't we copy that setup?

SL55 has an external fuel pump & filter. Why can't we copy that setup?

E55, SL63, ML550
Well for starters, the fuel tank is very different. Its line comes out of the bottom to feed the filter/pump. Ours have 2 senders, one on each side. Ours is a saddle tank.
