DIY Transmission Fluid Flush.
Mad props to kjlindgr's for the original thread. I wanted to add a few more pictures of the process and a nice video of the fluid coming out of the cooler line.
Video can be found here
One thing I recommend is doing this job while the transmission is hot.
there were a couple smallish gold flakes inside the pan.
inside of the old filter.
transmission without drain pan.
where the filter sits
the magnet sitting at the bottom of the pan. as you can see there is a bit of metal sludge attached to it but no large pieces which is nice!
cleaned drain pan
once the red lock pin is busted off you need to push the rest of the pin through the hole as shown to get it out.
yup this transmission fluid has had it!
as you can see a lot of suspended particles were in the fluid.
another pictures of the particles
last picture of the particles
first time I got a bit over 3 quarts out.
second time I got almost exactly 3 quarts out.
different angle to show you exactly where the cooler line is located.
another angle of the cooler line.
after I filled the transmission up and ran the motor the second time I noticed a bit of fluid had run down the side of the transmission from a line. on the passenger side of the casing above the middle pan bolt. I wiped away all the fluid and ran the motor for a while revving it and nothing more came out. potentially an overflow hole?
